I was in Rome three weeks ago, visiting the city for the fourth time. The first occasion was part of my honeymoon while still living in Australia. The second was with my hubby and first-born son; the third with the same husband and two sons.
I was there accompanying our second son on an Erasmus programme at LUISS Guido. As I sat at reception, observing students come in and out of Villa Betania Residence, where he stays, I walked down memory lane smiling. I wish I could be younger and a university student again.
For four days, I felt nostalgic for college (UK)/dorm (US) and International House (IH), where I had fantastic moments with my fellow residents, particularly during inter-college sports competitions and cultural events.
Amazingly, we make memories without knowing which ordinary moment will one day become precious. Hence, whatever we do in whatever circumstance, whenever and wherever that is, we’ve got to make pleasant memories for ourselves and for those of others, as these memories will come to life one day.
Money comes and goes; jobs come and go; friends and acquaintances may come and go…; however, memories remain. As such, we’ve to ensure these are the good ones; these are the happy ones; these are the kind and grateful ones; these are the ones that demonstrate our humanness, regardless of our ethnicity (culture, etc.), age, occupation, and situation in life.

only memories!
